The counterstory in the movie, “Little Women,” and how it challenges what women have to be

       Society continues to pressure women to follow a certain path to be considered successful in life, forcing them to swallow their dreams to assimilate to the social norms. The Youtube video, “Women Following Dreams | Why Most Give Up,” Why women give up on dreams   talks about women’s goals and why women give up on what they want to pursue; one of the reasons being that they lack support from people around them ( 2:51). In connection with women’s aspirations, the article Gender Roles and Social Structures Women's aspirations built into social norms talks about how the goals of women are shaped in their childhood, influenced by gender socialization from parents, school, and media.  These pieces that talk about women’s aspirations, relate to the movie, “Little Women,” released in 2019.
